Someday, when I have a home of my own, I'd love to fill its walls with beautiful art. Pieces like this these acrylic paintings by Lulie Wallace. Her bright poppy colors and background patterns are so playful and fun. These paintings make me want to go to town with a big white canvas and paint!

I used to be really into jewelry making. I don't do it a whole lot anymore simply because handmade looking jewelry hasn't been very "in" in the past few years. Still, it's something that I enjoy to dabble in every once in a while. I was really excited to raid my jewelry making stash last week when my cousin requested a reproduction of a swirl style ring, that I used to make back in the day. I had so much fun making it that I made 3 more! Here is a picture tutorial of my swirl rings.

I hope everyone had super special Valentine's Day! Mine was great, despite having to work on writing a paper for the majority of the day. It was the little things that made it better than any other ordinary day- getting a bit more dolled up than usual, wearing something extra feminine and pink, getting a Valentine's card in the mail from my parents, passing out a few simple V-day cards to friends in my class. The little things. I've recently been realizing that one's mindset going into a new day can greatly influence the quality of the day. I truly believe that we have the power to turn a bad day around even given difficult circumstances. The question is whether or not we choose to.
So I ask you- how is your day going? Great, horrible, blehh? I challenge you to make a list of all the things in your life that are currently bringing you joy. If your list is long, be thankful for your blessings. If your list is short, don't feel bad. In life there will be challenges. Rest, and find joy in that fact that Jesus died on the cross for you so that you could have a relationship with the creator of the universe. Really puts things in perspective, huh?

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and I am so excited to give these homemade Valentines to my girlfriends. My favorite ones, the mini window heart notes, were inspired by these cards made by Molly from The Purl Bee. Do you still send out Valentine's? I definitely plan to hold onto this grade school tradition. It's one of the things that I love most about Valentines Day!

The last few days have consisted of iced coffee (with milk and raw sugar- my new favorite drink!), highlighters, and word documents.
The library has become my second home.
Yep, its that time again... MIDTERMS!
Though, I am happy to report that as my college career progresses, these midterms and finals don't seem like such big of a deal. I just keep reminding myself of how BIG God is in comparison.

Remember these Chocolate Soufflés that I talked about earlier this week? Well, my roommates and I made them tonight, and they were absolutely divine. So decadent and fluffy. I can hardly comprehend how so few ingredients (which exclude anything really unhealthy like butter, sugar, or oil) can result in something that tastes so good. They were fairly quick and easy to make; especially with 4 people working together. The majority of the time was dedicated to achieving "stiff peaks" (a new baking term I learned) by beating egg whites. Perfect way to end the weekend!

The mail man was extra generous today. When I arrived back at my apartment this afternoon, this is what I found. A beautiful sight indeed. The first two issues of my new subscription to Vogue and a Valentine's Day package from my grandma welcomed me at my apartment door. I mentioned my love (and slight obsession) with Teen Vogue, here. I finally decided that it was time for me to upgrade and I am so glad that I did. These days, so much inspiration can be found online between blogs and Pinterest. However, there is something special about a magazine. I've always been intrigued by the creative process that goes into putting a fashion magazine together. The brainstorming. The collaboration with other artists. The layout design. Just thinking about it gets me all excited! All I really want to do right now is to sit down with a good cup of joe and flip through these puppies. Unfortunately, mounds of econ homework are begging for my attention.
Luckily, the weekend is close. So close, I can almost taste it!
